Numata

Located in the upper stream of the Tone river, the town had developed as a castle town of the Sanada clan between the 16 and 17th century, and later as a market town. Surrounded by mountains such as Mts Akagi and Hotaka, the Numata Township is reknown for its forest culture and its beutiful birds reserves. Numata enjoys all the year beautiful resorts located on its high plateaux.

Numata is also a tourist base to Oze plain and Oku Nikko (inner Nikko).


The "Lavenda Park" on the Tambara Plateau

The Numata Festival ("Numata Matsuri") is praised as of the most three representative Northern Kanto festivals and takes place every year between 3rd and 5th August on the foot of the Tambara Plateau.

You will also enjoy visiting apple, grapes or cherry farms in the fall, or enjoying ski in winter and in the srping in the surrounding stations.
